Amazon.com Settles Kindle Remote e-Book Deletion Lawsuit

Amazon.com, whose Orwellian e-book deletion moveA, removing copies of "1984" and "Animal Farm" remotely from customer's Kindles earned it much criticism, as well as a lawsuit, has managed to settle with the complainant.

As part of the settlement with Justin Gawronski, a Michigan high school student, the company agreed to "not remotely delete or modify" works on Kindles (with some exceptions).
