Bankers facing windfall tax threat

Alistair Darling is considering hitting bankers with a windfall tax on their bonuses, it has been reported. The Chancellor was said to be keen on the idea, which will dismay the City but appeal to taxpayers who are angry at bonus payments expected to reach £6 billion this year.
