Germany to Press Ahead With Saving Opel

German Chancellor Angela Merkel , who faces reelection in about a month, said she would press ahead with plans to save Opel, the troubled German unit of General Motors, after lamenting that the American company's board failed to resolve the fate of its European operations when it met Friday in Detroit.
