Yahoo's Stock Returns To Pre-Microsoft Prices

Yahoo Down Nearly 22% In Premarket Trading

Yahoo shares took a hammering early Monday, falling 21.8 percent, to $22.41 per share in premarket trading, after Microsoft withdrew its unsolicited buyout bid over the weekend.

On Saturday, Microsoft said the two companies could not overcome differences in opinion over the price of a potential acquisition.

DoubleClick acquisition means Google will offer free ad server

According to a story on Reuters, it appears that Google is planning on using their newfound acquisition of the DoubleClick ad server to launch a new (and free) Ad Manager service ... essentially providing a free ad server to publishers (mind you a service that mid to large size online publishers pay tens to hundreds of thousands of dollars, if not more, a month for).

I'm curious to see how this pans out, and exactly how it could translate into ad revenue for Google. I would imagine that Google-powered ads would perhaps run in the ad spots a percentage of the time.


 

Microsoft in $44 billion bid for Yahoo!

One of the biggest takeovers that the corporate world has ever seen could be on the cards now that Microsoft has confirmed an acquisition bid for Yahoo!

According to various reports online it had already made what moves towards what it says were negotiations for a 'friendly takeover' late last night but this was flatly rejected by Yahoo!

Mind you, $44.6 billion doesn't sound too unfriendly to me it has to be said, and that's what I understand Microsoft is offering in terms of cash and share options for the business.
