News Story Apple runs out of iPads

According to the often accurate Apple Insider the iPad has sold out.

It claims that consumers who want an Apple iPad on the day of launch, that's April the 3rd in the US at least, are out of luck unless they have already pre-ordered.

As of Saturday 27th March the iPad is sold out for delivery on the 3rd and the new expect your delivery date has been moved back to April 12th at the soonest.


 

News Story Apple: iSlate rumours gain ground

If Apple doesn't release the iSlate at a conference on 26 January then it's going to cause some of the biggest disappointments in the history of the IT industry.

Latest strong tip that it's happening comes from an ex-Apple insider, albeit one from a while back.

I can't help wondering, though - has anyone thought what this tablet computer is actually going to do?

News Story Verizon and AT&T Play Legal Mumbly Peg

Verizon made an ad making fun of AT&T's 3G coverage (and it's manliness).

AT&T wasn't happy because it suggested their 3G coverage was spotty. So they sued saying the ads were misleading consumers, and anyway they had way more customers and their customers loved them, and Verizon just couldn't handle that.

Apple Insider reports this morning that Piper Jaffray analyst Gene Munster is predicting that Apple will end its exclusive agreement with AT&T by next summer.

This rumor has been out there for some time (as I wrote back in June in Is Apple Getting Ready to Dump AT&T?).

The exclusivity agreement never really made sense to me, but as the market matures, it makes even less. Look at RIM If you want an example of a handset maker that has thrived with a multiple carrier strategy, look no further than RIM.

Apple Slips in May, Rights Itself In June

On June 15th, less than two weeks ago, the Apple Insider blog reported that Apple sales continued slipping in May.

Mac sales were down, perhaps not as much as expected but still down, and more surprising, the previously recession-proof iPod sales were falling.

Could it be that the economy was catching up with Apple? But no, because that was May sales and as you no doubt know, Apple released a shiny upgrade to the iPhone called iPhone 3GS and sold a cool million of them in the first weekend.
