Best Buy isn't going to be the only retailer with a supply of iPad 2s on Sunday. Toys 'R' Us, which has sold iPods for quite some time, is going to be hopping on the hot "magical" Apple tablet bandwagon.

While many expect tomorrow's Apple event to result in CEO Steve Jobs unveiling an Apple table, we now have confirmation.

Considering how much Apple values secrecy, you have to expect they are not pleased about this.

Apple is expected to market its tablet computer not just as a way to read news, books and other material, but also as a way for companies to charge for content.

Most continue to expect the Wednesday Apple event to center around a new Apple tablet PC. As the invite talks about their "latest creation," it would seem to be about a new device, and not an update.

However, is it possible "one more thing" would be the loss of iPhone exclusivity by AT&T?

Reports have surfaced that Apple is in 11th hour talks with both Verizon and AT&T with regards to carrying the highly anticipated Apple tablet which is expected to be introduced next Wednesday, Jan. 27th.

To this point, still be a mystery as far as which carrier would carrier the iSlate, iGuide, iTable, or even iPad.

Apple's confirmed the January 27th event at their Cupertino campus, scheduled to introduce, most believe, a new tablet or "slate" PC.

There is also speculation that the event could announce iPhone OS 4, which may (finally) include background processing on the iPhone.

Apple's iGuide / iSlate / iTable (or whatever, a tablet PC) announcement has been scheduled for Wednesday, January 27th.

Originally, rumors had said the event would be Tuesday, the 26th, but it's been moved. Strangely, Apple, which used to favor Tuesday for events, seems to be gravitating to Wednesdays, of late.

We've been hearing about an Apple Tablet for such a long time now, it feels like it should exist, yet it doesn't.

With each Apple event, the rumors are so vivid, we actually believe them. Then the announcement comes, the shiny new ipods and Mac Books and other equipment are marched out, and we are left open-mouthed, shocked sitting in the empty auditorium thinking they must have forgotten something.

Mike Elgan, the veteran technology journalist, mused last week in a Computerworld article that eBook readers would make lousy gifts.

I don't necessarily agree with all of Elgan's points, but it got me thinking about how useful a one-trick device is for users.
