Headed into the last hour of the trading day stocks still hung around their lows for the session. Bank stocks were especially hurt by securities firm MF Global’s bankruptcy filing.

Correction: Triple Crown Media bankruptcy story

In a Sept. 14 story about a bankruptcy filing by Triple Crown Media Inc., The Associated Press erroneously reported that the newspaper publisher is based in Lexington, Ky.

The company moved its headquarters from Lexington to Lawrenceville, Ga., in 2008.
