Complex scheme saves Google a billion a year in corporate taxes

A report in Business Week shows us one way that Google keeps its bottom line up. Using a complicated structure, the company sends most of its overseas profits overseas to known tax havens.

With that, Google's corporate overseas tax rate is a low, low 2.4 percent.


 

Is Verizon finally getting the iPhone?

Attachment 15613Many iPhone users had a great deal of issues with AT&T since iPhone4 (which is 3G) was released last week.

I don't want to get ahead of myself here but Bloomberg Business Week is reporting that the iPhone will be available through Verizon Wireless come January 2011.

It is not clear if Apple will be releasing an updated model or not.

Wow! That's a lot of display-ad sales. Google is expected to generate $1 billion in sales this year from display advertising.

Although that's only a meagre 4% or so of the total Google sales expected in 2010, it's still a pretty stellar performance given the overall state of the online advertising market and the difficulties many are facing in selling such advertising space.
