Swedish bank Swedbank said Monday it is raising 15 billion Swedish kronor ($2.1 billion) in a new share issue to strengthen its capital position, which has been tested by the global economic crisis, particularly in the Baltic countries.

Fitch Ratings on Wednesday raised the investment-grade ratings of Ventas Inc., citing steps the real estate investment trust has recently taken to shore up its capital position.
