Spotlight on cosmetic ingredients conference

(Chemical Heritage Foundation) Spotlight on Ingredients: In Vitro Alternatives Forum, will take place on Thursday and Friday, Oct. 23 and 24, 2008.

Experts from Europe and representatives from major US companies and trade groups will convene for a briefing on state of the art "alternative" testing methods, the policy and consumer demands behind them, and how to move forward with in vitro testing programs.


 

Toyota will start making hybrid Prius in US

Toyota Motor Corp., the seemingly unstoppable juggernaut that saw its U.S. sales double in the last decade, has come back down to earth.

Stung by rare double-digit sales declines and burdened by a growing inventory of slow-selling pickups, Toyota said Thursday it will start producing the Prius hybrid in the U.S. and will shut down truck and SUV production to meet changing consumer demands.

(American Society for Horticultural Science) To meet increasing consumer demands for healthy, high-quality fruit, commercial growers in the United States are ramping up production of blueberries.

Domestic production of this tiny antioxidant-packed "super food" has increased in seven Southeastern states, accounting for almost one-third of the US acreage of two of the most popular types of blueberries.
