Sino Forest Corp. says its chief executive has resigned as Canadian regulators investigate fraud allegations against the Hong Kong-based company following claims it exaggerated the size of its forest holdings in China.

A Goldman Sachs trading executive on Tuesday challenged the government's fraud allegations against the company and himself, asserting to lawmakers, "I did not mislead."

Former American International Group CEO Maurice "Hank" Greenberg is expected to pay a $15 million fine to settle fraud allegations brought by the Securities and Exchange Commission, according to The Wall Street Journal.
