Uninstall Vista on laptop and install XP

DaniWeb IT Discussion Community - IT Careers and Business  Tue, 11/09/2010 - 23:45

I could use some help with uninstalling Vista on my HP laptop. I would prefer to have XP installed. How do I go about it.

I've searched on the net for help, but nothing has worked. When I put the XP CD in to load, the computer doesn't recognize the hard drive.

BTW, the original HD that came with this computer crashed and I had to install a new HD.

I did have recovery disks and it loaded every thing just fine, but when I restart the computer, it states "OS not found." Any help is appreciated.

I am not a professional, but do have some computer knowledge.

Any way to rip DVD movies into my hard drive?

DaniWeb IT Discussion Community - IT Careers and Business  Mon, 06/28/2010 - 07:26

I don't want to "pirate" any movies, but would like to rip DVD's that I bought into my computer so I can put them on my iPod.

Are there ways to rip copy protected DVD's with many chapters/episodes etc?

Which software allows me to do it?

Is it legal?

It's thus as simple as whipping out your credit card, so to speak. It's not been a big seller, though, and Microsoft wants to change that.
