Just when you thought that Getty was in it's last throws of existence, before its massive library of wholly owned content gets broken up by Hellman & Friedman and sold off for pieces, Getty comes in and lowers the bar that much further.

Getty's Hulton Archive has been sold to the private equity firm Hellman & Friedman for $2.4 billion (£1.2 billion).

An incomparable record of the twentieth century, it holds about 70 million pictures and 30,000 hours of film footage.

  • Electronic Arts (NASDAQ: ERTS) announced that it has proposed to acquire Take-Two Interactive Software (NASDAQ: TTWO) in an all-cash merger valued at approximately $2.0 billion, or about $26/share.

    Take-Two rejected the 63% premium price, saying the bid undervalued the company.
