(American Geological Institute) The American Geosciences Institute, in collaboration with the National Academy of Engineering, is hosting a professional development workshop for underrepresented, early-career minorities interested in careers in research and academia.

The workshop, titled Developing a Diverse Professoriate: A Professional Development Workshop for Underrepresented-Minority, Early-Career Faculty in the Geosciences, will be held in the Washington, D.C., area from April 4-6, 2012.

(University of Southern California) The first comprehensive census of video game characters finds Latinos nearly invisible and women and other groups underrepresented.

Combined with wide reach of video games and heavy play by minorities, findings suggest lack of representation in games may have significant social impacts.
