On November 16, 2010 the Office of Advocacy (Advocacy) filed public comments with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) in response to the 90-Day Finding on a Petition to List Atlantic Bluefin Tuna as Threatened or Endangered under the Endangered Species Act.

(University of Maryland) The University of Maryland will lead a new climate research partnership with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, North Carolina State University and 16 other institutions.

The nationwide consortium led by Maryland won a competition for a new NOAA-supported Cooperative Institute for Climate and Satellites that will receive up to $93 million in funding over five years, with approximately two-thirds of this funding expected to be managed by Maryland's Earth System Science Interdisciplinary Center.

On Friday, September 5th, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) proposed designating critical habitat for the Gulf of Maine Distinct Population of Atlantic Salmon (GOM Atlantic Salmon).

NOAA previously listed the GOM Atlantic Salmon as an endangered species under the Endangered Species Act (ESA).

The proposed designation includes lands in Maine and New Hampshire. Public comments are due on November 4, 2008.
