A former utility executive and nuclear opponent is raising concerns about the presence of two large underground natural gas pipelines that cross within a few hundred feet of the Indian Point nuclear facility in Buchanan, N.Y.

Some of Pennsylvania's natural gas pipelines are 120 years old. Portions of lines also date to the 1800s in Massachusetts.

And hundreds of miles in New York state are made of leak-prone cast iron.

Enterprise Products will acquire Teppco Partners in an all-stock deal worth about $3.3 billion, forming a new energy company that will run 48,000 miles of crude and natural gas pipelines and control one of the liquid natural gas terminals in the nation, the announced said Monday.
