NexMed, Inc. (NASDAQ: NEXM) 52% HIGHER; announced that the U.S. FDA has cleared the Company to proceed with the proposed Phase 2 trial of PrevOnco™, its proprietary cancer treatment for patients with advanced, unresectable hepatocellular carcinoma, or liver cancer.

The FDA granted PrevOnco™ orphan drug status in August 2008, and in March 2010, NexMed filed its Investigational New Drug (IND) application for the product candidate.

NexMed, Inc. (Nasdaq: NEXM) 64.1% LOWER; announced the mutual decision with Novartis (NYSE: NVS) to terminate the licensing agreement for NM100060, a topically-applied treatment for onychomycosis, commonly known as nail fungus.

NexMed entered into the exclusive, worldwide agreement with Novartis in September 2005, under which Novartis assumed all clinical development, regulatory, manufacturing and commercialization responsibilities for NM100060.
