French carrier SFR has outed a new webOS device. It seems official: the Palm Pre 2 is coming.

Beleaguered smartphone maker Palm has been purchased by electronics and computer giant HP, in an acquisition valued at $1.2 billion.

Palm confirmed on Monday that the Pre Plus and Pixi Plus will be coming to AT&T. The company did not announce an actual date of release, simply that they would arrive in "the coming months."

If you read the OTR Global report today that said that Palm was halting its production lines for its webOS products, you might have sold off all your Palm stock.

Thing is, it's all about a holiday, not bad news from Palm.

When the second Palm webOS device, the Palm Pixi, was announced in early September, all we were told as far as the release date was "in time for the holidays," rather vague.

Things might be clearing up, as a report from an unnamed source at BGR states the Palm Pixi is set to launch on Sprint on October 20th.

While Palm has seen its share of good news, and bad news over the last few days, it's hard to judge this news.

The Palm Pre is as lows as $79 (including rebate) or $99 (sans rebate), and that's as much as another $70 cut in price.

A report from TheStreet.com earlier this week stated that Verizon was snubbing the Palm Pre, which would have dealt a major blow to Palm's comeback chances.

Other analysts disagreed with the initial report, and we not appear to have confirmation that the Palm Pre is coming to Verizon after all.
