  Also, Apollo announced that Charles B. “Chas” Edelstein will retire as co-Chief Executive Officer and director of the company on August 26, 2012.

• Claymore/MAC Global Solar Index (NYSE: TAN) up 7.68 percent to $5.19. Trina Solar Ltd. (NYSE: TSL) is leading the ETF higher today, following its second-quarter earnings report.
  
  Though results were nothing to write home about, Trina appears to have issued solid shipment guidance for the third quarter.
  
  GT Advanced Technologies, Inc.

After the markets closed yesterday afternoon, Google delivered its first quarter earnings report, and investors reacted with dismay.  Unfortunately for the company, that wasn’t close to the end of things, as Google’s stock continues to dive this morning and a number of financial institutions have lowered their price targets.

Chinese search company Baidu shows no signs of slowing down when it comes to making money.  Late yesterday, the company released its fourth quarter earnings report, and analysts' expectations were surpassed in pretty much every respect.

To sort of cut to the chase: Baidu's stock is up 6.69 percent in early morning trading, which shows the degree to which the company impressed investors.  Jumps like that don't occur on an everyday basis.

  (NYSE: DKS) high of $34.18. Dick's had a third quarter earnings report with an EPS of $0.22 and revs of $1.08 billion, topping consensus estimates calling for an EPS of $0.17 and revs of $1.04 billion.
  
  Dick's also increased their FY10 outlook from $1.46 - $1.49 to $1.56 - $1.58, compared to the consensus looking for $1.48 per share.
  
  Raymond James upgraded shares to Market Perform as well.
