No Need for Seinfeld, Vista’s Already a Laugh

I can just hear Jerry Seinfeld’s monologue taking jabs at Redmond: “…and what’s with Microsoft Vista—Bob and Windows ME weren’t embarrassing enough?” Who knows, maybe he already has.

But now all that must be put aside as he takes on the role of pitch man for Vista. Do the folks in Redmond realize that Seinfeld’s TV shows are all reruns now?

Ron Miller’s post today got me thinking about how pathetic Microsoft's reaction was to Apple’s funny and in my opinion memorable and effective--not to mention widely spoofed--ads depicting Microsoft operating systems as the nerdy...


 

iPhone isn't the whole story

My colleague Ron Miller makes some excellent points about the iPhone shortage in the US in his blog entry.

If this were any other company we would indeed be taking them to task. Hang on though, let's think a minute: everyone's talking about a hardware shortage, the iPhones aren't in stock yet so it's a bad thing, yes?

Well, yes, but that's only part of the story. A hardware shortage can be rectified over time. In the longer term a few people hanging around waiting for their phones a couple of days is an inconvenience, nothing more.

Google Launches Enhanced Enterprise Hosted Search Product

Google released a shiny new version of its hosted enterprise search product today that includes new custom indexing and a synonym dictionary.

While they were at it, Google changed the name of the product to Google Site Search, which replaces the old (rather awkward) moniker Custom Search Business Edition.

If you are like me, you may be wondering how Site Search is different from the free Google search widget I have on my Typepad blog, By Ron Miller.

For one, the widget is free and Site Search starts at $100 per month for 5000 pages (reasonable I think by anyone’s pricing benchmark).
