Ruby on Rails

IM new to Ruby and RoR. I have very less prior experience with web techs. I know how web works and worked with pre coded php code (edited em)... and ran websites with template scripts and wordpress cms.

But never built em on my own.

Now I wanna learn a web framework. and RoR seems to be the most popular one. everyone's talking about it.

So I dont know much php, java script or Ajax.

Im learning Ruby language now.

SO to setup successful web apps with RoR do I need any of above technologies??

Which Web App framework should I choose?

DaniWeb IT Discussion Community - IT Careers and Business  Fri, 11/18/2011 - 00:59

Im a college junior. Ive got fairly good experience with C++, C#, and Java SE. But I dont have any experience or knowledge in the web application side of things.

I really want to add one technology to my skill set.

I donot know Php well. All I know is HTML.

These are my options...

Should I go for Python or Ruby on Rails or Scala?? Please guide me.

Learning Curve in Web Programming VS Desktop Programming

DaniWeb IT Discussion Community - IT Careers and Business  Wed, 11/11/2009 - 14:59

I'd like to jump into the wonderful world of programming.

In the past I took some programming courses in school.

These included C, C++, and Python.

And I started to learn PHP about a year ago, and I've also played around with Ruby on Rails.

Unfortunately I never did much with what I learned.

Now I'm looking to jump back in.

I currently have a career in IT and consider myself a Linux geek-guru-wannabe.
