software engineering

I am wondering what the difference is. So far what I think is correct is that software engineering is more user oriented, and less efficiency oriented, while computer science is more computer orientated, and focuses on using memory the most efficient way.

This is important in bigger projects such as games, and large software. Am I right? If not, what is the difference?

I'm looknig for advice on whether or not there is a placement or a job in software engineering, we have a module at uni in it but I've been told by lecturers that there are industrial placements and jobs out there in that topic.

I'm skeptical about whether this is true or not.

The idea(s) aside, how does a lone programmer with a few languages at his disposal make awesome software?

Do you think with proper research, planning, and design a lone programmer can make awesome software, or do you think it will usually require a couple of partners?

How do I learn more about the research, planning, and design of software engineering?

Programming is a skill that is (somewhat) easily obtained, but how many resources are there from which to learn the necessary skills to create awesome software?

Hi everyone,

I`m in the uni need to choose next year in what area I`m gonna specialize more. Will it be Software engineering or Mobile Software engineering with embedded systems class.

The only difference between these two modules is that if I choose Mobile Software engineering I won`t gonna do database and distributed systems class.

I like coding and solve problems. But not sure that I wanna do in my life. In any way programming career is the way of constant learning.

Anyway, what do you think guys about this?

I am going go to university and I have to choose a subject to do but I am not sure which course I should do.

Its either computer science or software engineering.

I have done some research but am still not sure what to do.

I have also had a few tests to figure out what to do but they haven’t really worked.

I was hoping that some people here who do computer science or software engineering could give me some advice and tell me a bit more about these subjects.

After high school I got into the automotive field, since the fall of the economy the automotive field has taken a dive.

Jobs are extremely hard to find and the pay isn't enough. I've always had a interest in computers and I am looking to get into the field.

I've looked into getting into computer science, because it seems to be a broad field, with lots of possibilities.

My question is, what is the difference between computer science and things like computer programming or software engineering?

And which would be the better degree to get?
