Following 10-year yields which pushed over 7 percent in Italy last week, traders calmed over the beginning of this week.

Renewed concerns, however, sparked bond selling across much of the Eurozone, pushing 2-year yields in both Italy and now Spain over the 7 percent mark.

Mario Monti was named as Italy's new chief, while the nation's UniCredit dealt with issues as CEO Ghizzoni looked to the ECB for broader borrowing.

StreetInsider.com's Top 10 News Items on Wall Street this week. 1. On Friday, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported that the U.S. added 192,000 jobs in February and the unemployment rate ticked lower to 8.9 percent.

The number was essentially in-line with what economists had expected of 196,000 and 9.1 percent, respectively.

Stocks sold off on the news as some had been expecting a number well north of 200,000. 2. With the tension in the middle east still elevated, oil surged to near $105 per barrel and was a major market driver this week.

• SPDR Gold Shares (NYSE: GLD) up 1.49% to $113.03. Support for the U.S. dollar undercut by a weak jobs report last Friday, effectively pushing the Fed rate raise out further.
  
  Additionally, China reported a 56% rise in imports last month, signaling a country hungry for commodities. Investors, sensing weakness, are trending to gold again.
• iShares MSCI Japan Index (NYSE: EWJ) up 0.69% to $10.19.
  
  The Bank of Japan is going to keep interest rates at the same low levels through 2011.

• Financial Select Sector SPDR (NYSE: XLF) at $15.17, a 1.2% rise.
  
  Bank of America (NYSE: BAC) gets an upgrade from Credit Suisse, and St. Louis Fed President James Bullard also made positive comments on the ability of the U.S. dollar to remain strong as inflation will remain low.
  
  Also Q4 earnings season for the banks is coming up in a few weeks.
• SPDR S&P Homebuilders (NYSE: XHB) up 3.68% to $16.08.

• PowerShares DB US Dollar Index Bullish (NYSE: UUP) rising, up 1.16 to $22.74, on lower than expected initial jobless claims.

LOWER:

• United States Oil Fund LP (NYSE: USO) down about 2.64% to $39.48.
  
  News that crude oil inventories gained by 1.76 million barrels, showing a wider gap between supply and demand.
• Energy Select Sector SPDR (NYSE: XLE) also down 1.84% to $57.12.
  
  The fund is reacting on the crude inventory data, as many of its holdings are oil related (XOM, COP, OXY, HAL, and more).
