News Story The Slow Death of Facebook (Feb 2004 - ????)

Cancer is a terrible disease which it has claimed the life of a well known technology journalist and a well known coder within the last couple of weeks.

Now Facebook has been diagnosed as being in the final stages of that online cancer which is a disregard for user privacy, and I think it is probably terminal.


 

News Story Guy Kewney R.I.P - Death of an IT Legend

The death of Guy Kewney early this morning is not only a huge loss to the world of IT journalism, but to the world itself.

He deserves recognition as the first dedicated technology journalist, having started way back in the early 1970's, as well as devoted husband, father and a much missed friend.

Guy died, aged 63, following a relatively short battle with cancer.


 

News Story iPad Reports Roll In: Mostly Positive

Attachment 14244The iPad hit the streets yesterday and reports have rolled in from bloggers, reporters and users.

For the most part people seem very pleased with their new devices, but there have been some problems (as you would expect with any electronic device on its first day).


 

News Story Are eBook Readers Already Obsolete?

Mike Elgan, the veteran technology journalist, mused last week in a Computerworld article that eBook readers would make lousy gifts.

I don't necessarily agree with all of Elgan's points, but it got me thinking about how useful a one-trick device is for users.

If you think about it, we began to solve the problem of carrying multiple devices with the iPhone.

News Story Blogger uses SEO to get vacation refund

When a complaining consumer starts topping the Google search rankings for your company, perhaps it is time to start taking them seriously?

Who says that blogging is a waste of time?

Not me, but then I've been blogging for a while now, admittedly in a professional capacity as a technology journalist rather than the perhaps more usual rant and ramble personal way.

Andrew Sharman did the rant thing recently, and oh boy is he glad he did. It seems to have led to him getting a pretty hefty refund from a tour operator after a particularly poor vacation experience in Tunisia.
