Pre-employment testing programmer

DaniWeb IT Discussion Community - IT Careers and Business  Thu, 11/10/2011 - 20:57

Currently we ask cadidate to work on a small task on a computer with all necessory environment setup like visual studio etc.

We found it very usefull to recruit good programmers. But the problem is we need to setup/clean computer for every candidate which we are finding very hard to manage.

Is there any good online pre-employemnt testing system to recruit programmers which may help us to reduce the number of candidates to be interviewed to a practical count ?

ADO .Net still relevant

DaniWeb IT Discussion Community - IT Careers and Business  Wed, 05/11/2011 - 17:17

Im returning to Visual Studio after 8-9 years.

The world has changed a lot and the first shock Ive gotten is that...

XAML is in ..whether its WPF or Silverlight!

Then theres WCF, XNA, and what not.

Anyways heres my question:

Is ADO .Net still relevant or has it been superseded by a new technology much like WPF has replaced Windows Forms.

Version Control for Visual Studio - NOT Visual SourceSafe

DaniWeb IT Discussion Community - IT Careers and Business  Mon, 03/21/2011 - 16:18

Anyone have any recommendations for a source or version control software for team development that isn't visual source safe(my boss hates it with passion).

We're currently looking into Team Foundation Server 2010, I know it's the replacement for VSS, but my boss doesn't know that, yet...

Any other recommendations that are compatible with ASP.NET and Visual Studio 05,08,10 and SQL server 05,08,08r2 and the respectable Windows server versions.

Interested in connecting to the independent .NET developers in the Washington, D.C. area.

If you have credentials and can prove it, can work with Visual Studio 2008 let us know who and where you are.

Don't you love when Visual Studio severely crashes? I really hate those moments because I am always afraid that if it is a problem of VS and not a problem in my code, I am in trouble...

Some time ago I explained The strange case of Visual Studio 2008 severely crashing loading an add-in that was caused by Visual Studio commandbars.

Fortunately the cause of this problem and a workaround was known.
