Probably just about everyone over 25 remembers the game and show 'Where in the World is Carmen San Diego?' If San Diego were around today (maybe she is, who knows), we would all know exactly where she was because she would broadcast her whereabouts by tying her FourSquare account to Twitter.

It wouldn't be much of a game.


 

Yelp Walks Away From $550M Google Deal

Late last week, it appeared Yelp and Google were close to a deal for Google to acquire the local reviews website.

However, it seems Yelp has had second thoughts, as late Sunday TechCrunch, which first publicized the deal, reported that Yelp CEO Jeremy Stoppelman personally walked away from the deal.

Only about 1 1/2 weeks after Google announced a new "promotion" using QR codes for its ed "Place Pages for Google Maps ," which is a Yelp rival, it appears the company has decided if it can't beat 'em, buy 'em.

It now appears that Google is in acquisition discussions with Yelp.

TechCrunch reports that Google is in advanced stage negotiations to purchase Yelp, the online local business review service.

This is a deal that makes so much sense for Google, it makes me wonder why they haven't done it already.
