Facebook's new stock ticker: Why not LIKE or POKE?

The company that changed how politicians raise money, dissidents start revolutions and parents keep tabs on their kids announced its stock ticker symbol Wednesday.

To pick a ticker symbol, a company has to ask the Nasdaq, the New York Stock Exchange or another exchange for permission to use it.

CNBC Wall Street reporter Melissa Francis told MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough Monday that he was just “making this whole thing a whole lot worse” by downplaying the impact of the Occupy movement.

“When you come in [to the New York Stock Exchange] even at this hour, you can’t ignore Occupy Wall Street,” Francis said at the top of her report.
