Why isn't there more public outrage over the gas prices?

Much has been written about this problem, but it seems as though large groups of the general public either doesn't care or wants to defend the oil companies.

Is it because they know they have been duped? Everyone wants to think they are smarter than that, but I think we have all been fooled.

And it makes me a little angry.
